After graduating high school in 2009, I felt indecisive about my future. On the one hand, I knew that college was not for me. And on the other, I knew if I did not go to college, it would devastate my mom – as you can imagine, I felt stuck. I had to choose between disappointing my mom or doing what was best for me.

And so, despite my doubts, I chose to go to college. While attending Community College Of Philadelphia, I didn’t do my best. I spent most of it skipping my math class and socializing with friends instead of focusing on my studies. And so, after a year and a half, I decided to call it quits with college. A few months after dropping out of school, I got a job at Macy’s as a sales associate. While working at Macy’s, I still felt lost about my future.

Reconsidering My Future

Thinking about this, I started to look on Craigslist for some writing gigs. Because for as long as I can remember, writing has always come easy to me. Even in high school, I would help my classmates with their writing assignments.

Within a few months of looking on Craigslist, I found some gigs that led me to start writing for various magazines and online publications. Some included Main Course Magazine, Txture Magazine, Style Equation Magazine, and more.
