Do you like going to brunch? And if so, what is your go-to meal? As for me, I love chicken and waffles. Or if I am not in the mood for that, I’ll go for pancakes with bacon and eggs.
That said, I have an update for you guys. Over a week ago, I had brunch at 3J’s cafe in Old City. And let me tell you, I had a great time. The food was delicious, and my waitress was super sweet. So to see what I had, continue to read along.
How Did I Find Out About This Brunch Spot?.
So before we get into what I had to eat, let me give you all a little backstory of how I found out about this cafe. One day in January, while scrolling through Instagram, I got a notification that I got a new follower. When I saw it was 3J’s cafe that followed me, I started checking out their profile.
After checking it out and seeing how good the food looked, I followed them back. And the rest is history.
And so, after months of promising to come to check them out, I finally had the time to do it last week. So after work, I took a Lyft to the cafe.
When I got there, I was pleasantly greeted and seated. Once I had a menu, I started looking over it. With so many delicious options, I was becoming indecisive. So after talking with my waitress about the menu, I decided on the chicken waffle sandwich and strawberry lemonade. And to top it off, they even gave me some fries on the house for stopping by.
Chicken Waffle Sandwich With Fries
Now this sandwich here was no joke because all the components worked well. The waffle was fluffy, soft, and crispy on the outside. Combined with the scrambled eggs, cheese, chicken, and maple syrup, it was a great blend of sweet and savory. Plus, the chicken had a good flavor and was not dry. It was a little salty, but overall it was still tasty. The fries they gave me on the house were just as delicious to crispy with every bite.
Strawberry Lemonade
Whenever I go to a restaurant or cafe, I typically get water. But once in a while, I like to treat myself to juice or soda. And so, since I do like strawberry lemonade, I figured, why not.
My drink was not only refreshing, but it was sweet. I could still taste some tartness from the lemonade. But all in all, it tasted like a strawberry lemonade.
Best Part Of Going To Brunch At 3J’s Cafe
Besides the delicious food, atmosphere, and service, I got to talk to the chef. During my interaction with Chef Lando, he told me something interesting about the syrup. For a settled taste of spice, he likes to add jalapeños to it.
When he told me that, I was surprised. The thought that someone would combine jalapeños with maple syrup seemed unusual. But once Chef Lando explained his concept, I got it. Plus, I am a sucker for foods that are sweet and spicy.
In conclusion…
What did you all think of my brunch experience? If you like what you saw, leave your thoughts and comments below. With that said, if you reside in Philly, check out 3J’s cafe in Old City. It’s affordable, and they have good food. Have a great day, everyone, and until my next blog post. Toodles!
