The hardest thing about writing an article is starting it -you think of all these things you want to write until you get hit with writer’s block.
As someone who often deals with this, it can be frustrating -not only does it delay my writing, but once I get overwhelmed, it makes me not want to continue writing.
And it leads me to procrastinate more -so if you struggle with writer’s block, continue to read along as I share my top three tips to overcome it.
What is writer’s block?
Primarily associated with writing, writer’s block is a non-medical condition that causes someone to lose their creativity.
In other words, it prevents the author or writer from producing content, leading to a slowdown in productivity – depending on the severity, it can last anywhere from days, weeks, months, and even years.
My top 3 tips for combating writer’s block
1. Taking A Step Back
I find that taking a step back helps me to reevaluate my article.
I’m less overwhelmed, the creative process is smoother, and I even generate new ideas.
And yes, I have found that this tactic works wonders when my mind is running blank.
2. Focus On Something Else
Focusing on something else is a great way to give your mind a break. Whenever I need to focus on other things, I have a list of things I like to do.
They include watching television, working on another project, drawing, cleaning, organizing my space, or talking to friends.
The idea is that the less I focus on my article, the more likely new ideas will come to mind.
3. Listen To Music
Listening to music is another tactic I like to use to relax my mind.
It’s chill, relaxed, and calming -so typically, I’ll find a playlist on YouTube with chill music or create one on Spotify.

Should you feel bad if your writer’s block lasts too long?
No, you should not -as a writer and blogger, I believe in producing quality content over quantity -which I discussed in my post on Blogging Tips For New Bloggers: My Best Tricks.
When it boils down, you want your writing to reflect your creativity – if writing is your craft and something you’re passionate about, take the time to put your best foot forward. By producing something that you can be proud of.
Even if it takes longer than expected, you know you put your heart and soul into it.
In conclusion…
