When I first began my natural hair journey, I had other expectations for my hair. From watching natural hair content creators on Youtube to being inspired by actress Tracy Ellis Ross’s beautiful curls, I thought my hair would turn out the same. Big, thick, and voluminous. But as we all know, not all hair textures are the same.
And so, over the years, I had to learn to accept my hair for what it was. Rather than live in this fantasy world of expectations that did not apply to my hair. And so, if you are struggling to love or accept your natural hair, continue to read along as I list three reasons why you should.
3 Awesome Reasons To Embrace Natural Hair
1. Natural Hair Is Versatile
Having the ability to switch up your style is one of the things I love the most about having textured hair. I can wear a wig one week and then change to a new hairstyle the following week. And that is the beauty of having textured hair. It’s never a dull moment.
2. It’s Beautiful
For a long time, the standard of beauty in society was long straight hair. And so anything other than that was deemed messy and unprofessional. But as time has progressed, the standard of beauty has shifted. More and more black women are getting the courage to wear their natural hair.
And accept the way that God made them. So whether your hair is curly, coily, wavy, or kinky, it’s all beautiful.
3. It’s Part Of What Makes You Unique
A unique feature of having textured is that not everyone has it, so instead of looking at the negative side of things, think about how blessed you are to have your hair. And know that your hair is part of what makes you so awesome. So the next time you look in the mirror, show your hair some appreciation.
In conclusion…
The journey to loving oneself is not easy – It can be full of bumps as you face your fears. Because whether it’s overcoming insecurities or embracing your hair texture, it’s a cycle of life we all go through. It may not be pretty, but what can you do? Because to grow in life, you have to face change.

Yeah!!! I love my natural hair too. 37 years of my life, I never color my hair. My hair has always been jet black.
