Have you ever found it difficult to save money? It seems every time you get money, you have to spend it. Or do you find an excuse to buy something you do not need?
As someone who does this, I suck at saving money. And so, throughout the years, I have put myself in situations that caused me to mess up my finances. I remember being in credit card debt in 2019 for the first time.
It was the worst. I not only screwed up my score, but I learned a valuable lesson in it all. Always pay your bill on time. So, in some ways, that experience was my wake-up call to do better.
And so, for this post, I’ll share what tips I use to save money. Which I find are great for anyone struggling to budget.
8 Tips To Help You Save Money & Budget
1. Put Yourself On A Budget.
The idea of being on a budget as an adult can seem silly. But if you know yourself and your spending habits, it’s better to know where your money is going. To better understand your finances -which leads me to my second point.
2. Make a spreadsheet of your expenses.
One of the best things I did was make a spreadsheet of my monthly expenses. Because as an entrepreneur with a business, I must keep track of my bills.
And so, even if you are not an entrepreneur or have a business, this method can help you stay organized. As a side tip, use a notebook if you can’t do a spreadsheet.
3. Cook more at home.
Even though ordering out is convenient, it can become expensive if you do it frequently. So, I recommend finding easy recipes you can make, especially if you have little time. You can do one-pot dishes, get creative with a salad, do smoothies, or use an air fryer to make quick meals.
4. Know the difference between a want and your needs.
If you know the difference, it can help you make better choices. For buying things you do not need. Because when you think about it, most of us buy more things we want instead of what we need.
Thanks for sharing. I definitely have to watch online shopping habits and also review all my subscription services.
The difference between a want and a need is SOOO important. Great list!
It’s great to be reminded that there are things we can implement and try out that save us some money. It can be a surprise when you look at your finances and see that some habits or outgoings are costing money that we don’t make the best use of. Thanks for sharing this!
